For the second time this week, ( the 1st being Sunday & Monday ) I am WITHOUT heat I called my landlord early Monday morning to tell him we had no heat and that it was 58 degrees in my house. He came down and when he couldn't fix the problem, he called someone else in to fix it. Long story short, they had to replace parts on my furnace. We HAD heat until sometime yesterday.

This morning I got up to get ready for work and my house was COLD again I checked the thermostat again and it read 64 degrees. So we AGAIN called the landlord who tried all day to get my heat back on to no avail. This time he thinks it's my thermostat, and he tried to replace it with 3 new ones and it STILL won't work !!!!!

My daughter has been home sick, and because I have NO heat I had to bring her to my inlaws so she could stay warm. My landlord will be back sometime tomorrow morning to check it again and hopefully he'll bring someone who actually knows what they are doing !!!! I'm tired of being cold and I'm even more tired of my landlord complaining that this is costing him 'big money' to fix. Well it's going to cost him even more, if I get sick and can't go to work because my house is to cold

I had that happen once and my landlords soultion was to bring out space heaters.That didn't sit to well with me.They are far to dangerous to use.I told her to either get someone here to fix it or pay for a motel room,take your choice.Had someone there that day fixing it.
I take no crap form landlords.The way I see it,I paid my rent on time,they should keep the place atleast in living condition.I think that is fair and not to much to ask for.
Maybe that is why just about every landlord i had hated me
Glad I bought my own place no more landlord.

Hope you have heat soon.
WHo pays for the stove to run,maybe crank taht up and sleep near it.I also done that and that really ticked her off since she paid gas.

That totally sucks, Jodi... no one should be left without heat for any duration of time in the winter (especially a New England winter )... I'd be severely pissed off too and be wanting to bury the landlord in a snow pile not getting it fixed immediately! Hope they get it fixed for ya soon!

How's your hubby recovering from surgery? Is he planning to go back to work soon?

I remember growing up us not having heat, because the gas line would freeze. We would have to have the gas company come up and one time they had to dig up the yard because they had to replace the line. I remember going to my grandparents because they had heat.

Hope it gets taken care of soon. Drink plenty of hot chocolate and bundle up with a blanket

He's here right now trying to fix it with some guy, but as of yet.... still NO heat It's now 3:00 p.m. my time and I haven't had heat totally since 6:00 p.m. last night. My friend Billy brought over a small electric heater that we're using on my bird Sam right now. We don't have the money to go out and buy any kind of electric heaters until at least next week. My house was down to 56 degrees this morning

I miss my daughter so much, I saw her for about an hour after I got out of work last night. I'm hoping she can come home tonight

Ingrid, Jesse's doing therapy right now and is expected to be continueing it until at least the end of April. He may be able to return to work the beginning of May, depending on what the doctor says. It's still a wait and see game. As for my elbow, it's still sore.... I bruised the bone and according to Jesse's therapist it could up to 6 monthes to completely heal. I'm still working, just not doing any heavy lifting for now. Thanks for asking

I would be dying with no heat right now. -_- Here's hoping they get that fixed soon.

Yay, Finally I have heat !!!!!! I'm so happy now They finally got the heat working at about 6:00 p.m. only 24 hours after I lost it AGAIN. Hopefully it's fixed for good this time.... last time we had it for 4 days before it went out again. The landlord bought another new thermostat and wired it wrong I guess. The other guy figured it out and walla.... success !!!!!

My daughter is home sleeping in her own bed and I'm nice and toasty warm, it is turning out to be a good night after all

Sorry I missed this thread before. I'm really glad you finally got the heat back. I know it's been really cold lately and can't be good for both you and your hubby's recovery.

You could ask them to give you credit for the days that you didn't have any heat.

I could BUT it won't do me any good I know my landlord, he's a nice guy, but he just doesn't believe that I was inconveinenced all that much. It just helped to top off a week from hell !!!! Not only did I lose my heat, but I also got a nasty stomach virus from my daughter Sunday, that kept me out of work ALL week I'm just starting to finally feel better now.

Stomach virus' are the WORST!! I had one 11 years ago that was BRUTAL. And was the last major sickness I had to date.... I guess my body had enough and toughened up the defenses to not go through that nightmare again

Sorry Jodi I missed this thread! Landlords are pains in the arse! We didn't loose heat but we had weather stripping missing from around our door and it was letting cold air come in around the door. We complained for about 3 weeks that this was going on. Finally I came home from last night and they had installed. Believe me it made a world of difference.

I am glad your heat is working again and hopefully Tiffany is feeling better.
