Wedding Music.

I got into a rather lengthy discussion with someone the other day about music to play during weddings and receptions. I was informed that I was...picky. :irked: Sorry, but I want music that actually means something and in line with the occasion. If anyone ever requests Achy Breaky Heart, Electric Slide, trashy pop music, etc., at my wedding...they get drug into the parking lot and shot in the face at point blank range!

BY ME!!1!one1 *Masa smash!*

...

Anyway, what kind of music/songs would you have/had at your special occasion? :dgrin: Brides, would you come down to the traditional march or a meaningful song by your favorite artist? What about your special dances and not so special hey-look-at-these-idiots-try-to-dance...er, dances? Would you (be as obsessive compulsive as me and) pick out every single song that is to be played and when? :evilx:

Hmm, this is a hard one. I know I'd like a Medieval style wedding and probably a lot of Celtic/Gothic music as my wedding. I know I'd like to have some Enya to go down the isle to, not sure the song though.
Good question, btw, Masa. :)

You are picky, Masa. Just kidding. ;)

No, you are right...this is (should be) a special day preferrably not to be remembered as a bad music day. But this depends mainly on the bridal couple and their orders towards the DJ or the band about the music to be played.

Or not...I had DJed at the wedding of good friends about 10 years ago, and the bridegroom asked me to play Rammsteins "Du hast" as to tease the bride a little bit (explanation is to be found in the lyrics and the pronounciation of the title). The bride told me that my life expectancy would be drastically shortened if I dare to play that song. As you can see, I had made the wiser decision.

In Canada, a popular song played at weddings is the 1987 hit 'Together (The New Wedding Song)' by Joey Gregorash. A beautiful song, but listen to it too much, and you'll get sick of it easily

I got married last year...we walked down to The Cures Friday I'm in Love, signed the register to Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, and walked out to Hims Right Here In My Arms. The reception was easy....there wasn't really any music to speak of, we all went to a pub for a meal, then back to ours for a booze up

Last wedding I was asked to DJ, was my nephew's. The bride and Groom wanted all Country music. I try to play a mix most times as you have guests with all kinds of different tastes.

Hence part the reason we didn't have a "traditional" wedding with all the bells...I got to the stage where I was fed up of trying to please everyone....so in the end we did it all in 7 weeks and saved a fortune!
