What's the REAL difference between Diet Coke and Coke Zero?

Yesterday, I bought a Coke Zero. Reading the label, it says it contains Nutrasweet. Well, as far as I know, the same applies to Diet Coke. So what's the real difference between the two?

Does anyone know?

Supposedly taste, but I think they taste the same. I must not have a refined pallette.

Coke Zero is supposed to be low carb. I do agree it does taste like Diet Coke.

IMO, the only thing that is different is the name. Both taste terrible. :p

Diet Coke tastes a bit better than Coke Zero. Coke Zero reminds me Tab in taste and I actually got sick on Tab once.

They say it tastes more like the original Coke. (Actually they say it tastes exactly like the original Coke, but I think we all know that's a farce.) I'd say it has a better taste than diet coke by a bit, but it doesn't taste anything at all like the original.

I'll stick to Black Cherry Vanilla Coke. :p

According to the Wikipedia, both variations actually only differs in taste...it's more a marketing trick designed to attract the modern, figure conscious men.

IMHO, Coke Zero tastes a little bit better than Diet Coke, but nonetheless, both give me diarrhea when I drink too much of that stuff.

I can't detect any difference between the two, either.

I HAVE found a way to get rid of the aftertaste: Mix equal parts of diet and regular. Yes, it HAS sugars, but you only get half as much as regular, and lose 99% of the aftertaste. Works great with Dr. Pepper.

That's a good idea for those who notice an aftertaste.

I never notice an aftertaste with diet drinks though.

I can taste the difference between Coke, Diet Coke & Coke Zero... Using regular Coke as the control...

Diet Coke as an off taste to it... like there's something that's just not right with it.

Coke Zero, on the other hand, has a sugary taste to it... which is weird considering there's no sugar in it (or at least any that's listed on the nutrition label) However, I'd prefer this over Diet Coke.

I just wished that Coca Cola would stop with those "Taste just like Coke" / "Taste Infringement" ads... They're annoying at best & false advertisement at worst.

Ah, that claim is as old as Coke Light...back at the 80's when we had visited the local Coca Cola plant, the guys leading the tour sticked to the claim that the diet variety tastes absolutely the same as the "normal" one, and I bet that even a trained KGB interrogator wouldn't have been able to deviate them from that claim.
