Yup. Knew about that for awhile before this, thanks to NationStates. The scary ones are the "CHOKE!" one, the "CRASH!" one, and maybe "VANISH!"...all the other ones (save for the distant future ones) I can pretty well convince myself won't happen.

The oil crash one doesn't really scare me. Yeah, the world will run out of oil not that far into the future, but the thing really underestimates how much nuclear power is already used and how much we'll HAVE to use it as oil runs out. Even Dubya now supports more nuclear energy production, and hy
id cars will probably be the standard within a decade. We'll get by without much oil. <
><
>On the other hand, the idea of a killer smog blanket eating the world is pretty damn creepy. Cutting down on pollution before the dumb system thingy crashes would sure as hell be a good idea, but that's easier said than done. Let's see if we can convince the Chinese to stop building coal-burning factories every two feet... <

If coal can be made to burn cleaner, then that's what we need to do...it's my understanding that the Appalachians have enough coal stored in them to last to the year 2500 at this rate. Of course, the Chinese might not be as willing to use this technology, but hopefully some pressure here in the U.S. can get coal to largely replace oil. (That and nuclear power, at least until we can make solar power more efficient.) If we can make this work, the oil crisis won't be that apocalyptic after all.<
><
>I also partially think the site's wrong about the smog collapse. I do think it can be reversed, just as I believe that the ozone hole can be replaced as well. We already are developing technologies that pollute less; the turning point will be when we are forced to use them.

As I said multiple times before, there's no point in finding Bin Laden anymore. He has no power, and giving him any more attention than we already have will only serve to glorify the fact that he's still alive in some cave somewhere. We have better things to turn our attention to right now.<
><
>Well, I'd say it's about gotten to the point where we're being forced to use newer technologies. At least we'd better, if we don't want there to be a serious international oil crisis. <

Geez, if everybody would just learn a little magic, the world would be a much cleaner place. Who needs cars when you've got Ray Wing? Who needs oil when you can power a generator with a few Digger Bolts? Honestly.<
><
>By the by, some of those are really amusing. Like how a few hundred trillion years from now or whatever, the various constants that rule physics will cause our carbon particles to suddenly cease to exist and we'll all be puddles of somethingthingy. There are many rules of<
