Amidst the frantic fragging of QuakeCon 2005, the tenth edition of id Software's gaming festival and tournament in Texas, publisher Activision announced that Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil would be coming to the Xbox. Attendees of QuakeCon got the first look at the expansion to April's Xbox version of Doom 3. <

>Resurrection of Evil is being co-developed by Nerve Software (Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War) and id Software. Xbox gamers can expect to continue the hellish action with a new storyline, new levels, and new weapons. Activision has not yet announced a release date for the game. <

>Also revealed, to little surprise, is the inclusion of the wildly popular multiplayer action to the Quake series. Quake 4, which is currently in development for the Xbox 360 and PC by long-time Activision collaborator Raven Software, will feature multiplayer mode favorites Capture the Flag, Arena, and of course, Deathmatch. Gamers can side with either the Marines or the Strogg in the frag-fest that Activision says will feature "the speed, style, and overall multiplayer feel found in the popular Quake III Arena." The game is scheduled to ship in the fourth quarter of this year. <

>Both Quake 4 and Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil are rated M for Mature. For more information on the games, head over to GameSpot's previous coverage of Quake 4, or read the full review of the PC version of Resurrection of Evil. <
