Bontãgo is one of my more unique finds online that I've enjoyed. Released in 2002/03, Bontãgo's game idea is fairly simple: Build & Dominate!

The object of Bontãgo is to build towers of blocks to increase your influence on the game disk, giving more more room to build & eventually cover the all flags on the game disk. HOWEVER, your opponents are doing the game thing & either nobody can build wherever two or more colors mix. Any blocks in these "no man lands" instantly fall through the disk & that player loses the influence of that it brought.

There's also plenty of power ups that can shift the balance of power, so the strongest player can easily become the weakest player should their towers fall for some reason.

Bontãgo supports up to 8 players (including computers in Monoplayer mode) & includes a sandbox mode so single players can practice their tower building by themselves or do whatever they want within the game.

Try out Bontãgo today!

Bontãgo has the following system requiresments:
  • * Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003
    * 800 Mhz P III (or AMD equivlence) Processor
    * 128 MB's RAM
    * 16 MB Video Card (check website for supported cards)
    * 100 MB's HD Space (Full version)
    * Direct X 9.0b or higher
    * Direct X 9.0b compatible Sound Card (for sound)
[/list]

Can it be played directly from a CD-ROM?

Bontãgo is considered an "Web download", as the installer includes everything you need to play it. NO CD-ROM ACCESS IS REQUIRED!

The game cannot be played off a CD as the files have to installed on the hard drive. If you're short on space, go with the light version as it only includes the bare basics to play. The Full version includes hi-res stuff & a little music, but you can change the music directory within the game.
