Ever since they agreed on a cap, the deal has been relatively close. When they're done fine tuning changes to the league's rules, they'll have a "deal in principal," meaning it will go to a vote by the players. There are many rules of<

I still can't believe some of the new rules they want to implement...<

Ok, after reading the first article and this piece of poo:<

>Quote:Shootouts to
eak tie games, a more exciting overtime format, smaller goalie equipment, the elimination of the red line, wider blue lines and restrictions on goaltenders' handling of the puck are all solid ideas.<

Well they atarted enforcing the rule because they wanted games to get over quicker or something. "Dont' try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring, besides that, they're facist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic." - Crash Davis in Bull Durham <

I agree... new OT rules like that are dumb. I didn't like when they made OT 4 Vs 4 to begin with. <

OT being 4 on 4 is OK, but fewer games would end in ties if they lengthened OT. Keep it as it is, but lengthen OT and enforce a two-minute penalty for icing in OT only. Also, they need to encourage putting hte game away in regulation by awarding 3 points for a regulation win and only 2 for an OT win. I know it might make people reading the standings a little cross-eyed at first, but it will make for fewer ties.

I've actually been in favour of the 3-point system before.<
><

><
>Icing as a penalty though? Too much, especially when the powerplay becomes 4v3. I do agree that OT should be 20 minutes, be it 4v4 or 5v5. Postseason OT absolutely MUST remain 5v5. There are many rules of<

Yeah, I'm on Warios side there.<
><
>I've hated the new OT since they implemented it. OT should strictly be an extra period, played in full 20 minutes, with 5v5. <
><
>It's sudden death. It's that good enough? Nooo. Instead they have to make it sudden death, 4v4, which just ups the odds of someone scoring. Woo. <

Yeah... I mean sure it's about winning and all, but we came to see them play... so why change the rules because two teams are tied after 3 periods? Let them play more so we get our $'s worth. <

The idea of a 10-minute overtime has been kicked around before, but the union opposed it because they said it would wear down the players too easily. I see their point, but the additional wear would likely be negligible.<
><
>I also favor making icing a penalty in OT in order to make teams think twice about doing it. The idea is to make scoring in OT more likely, so if a team is pinned in its own zone, it can't just clear the puck and get a fresh start. It has to get a little more creative and take its chances getting rid of the puck. If players have to work a 10-minute OT without being able to ice, then ties will almost become a thing of the past.

I see your point... although I still dislike anything that increases scoring. Just because I like to see them play. <
