CRT Ceiling Projectors

CRTs are the projectors which put the picture on your screen. But normally they're inside your TV. But you can also buy CRTs for your ceiling. They just basically project the picture onto your TV screen and you don't need to turn it on. I don't really know much about these, but I'm learning quickly. I know that you can either have 7-inch or 9-inch CRTs. The better ones are the 9-inch because they project more of the picture and have more detail. Is there a possiblity that anyone here has one? Thanks a lot, Ingrid, I really appreciate it. But it's just one of my main interests. Look at you and HTML. Damn, you're so good at it. I am lucky to get a link up somewhere. Anyways, you have CRTs, just not ceiling ones. They're inside every TV, and that's what
ings up the picture. "Wanna know the best gift of all? Cake."--Norm MacDonald;Come join Dark Knight's Console Gaming Board at this link, Here's Ingrid's wonderful Blah Blah Roundtable at this link,Then there's my board at this given link.

Now that Plasma screen tv's are available, Cathode Ray Tube front projection tv's prices should start coming down, but they arent cheap to run. A year or two ago I was reading about bulb replacement. Bulb life averages 10,000 hours.<
>At the time replacements were quoted at £400 each, and fitting was £100.<
>Allthough you lucky swines get everything soooo much cheaper, so check out prices before buying second hand. Also check how old the bulbs are.<
>You may be buying a lemon.<
>Also, with most older models you need a very dark room for good viewing. (Check the Lumens rating, the higher this is the clearer it will be in a lit room.)<
>My advice is wait another year, and invest in a Plasma screen, nowhere near as big its true, but twice as good looking. Edited by Zakelwe at: 3/12/00 5:27:22 pm<

Great reply ZAK. I have an older one here. I use it here at my station to monitor voice peaks and cw and audio patterns. Ingrid you've probably seen a bunch of these, if you were ever in a hospital most of there scopes have them. I haven't even looked at the plasma ones yet. Oh, you would remember one of these lil tinkers if you saw one. They are few and far between in the shops at the moment as they are a relatively new product, and are still prohibitively expensive. About a year ago you could expect to pay between £10-£15000 for a model that only gave a half decent picture.<
>Why so much?<
>Well, (drools) they are only about 4 inches thick, and can be hung on the wall, (I'm starting to tingle!) just like a picture frame. So far I only know of one person with one, they havent taken off as well as expected, so just recently prices have started falling, but not fast enough for my liking.<

The one thing I remember seeing (and I am not sure if this is what you are referring to) at CompUSA is really thin computer monitors...totally flat actually...<
>Would those be considered into the "Plasma" category???? Are those made out of similar materials??? ~Ingrid~

No, I think those monitors are using LCD screens, but dont quote me on it. (They are good looking though arent they?) The only benefit of Plasma gas screens is that they dont need the parts at the back of a CRT tube that make tv's so bulky. I think they are referred to as electron guns, but again dont quote me, I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert on this. Maybe smittys would know.) At present, they couldnt get anywhere near the resolution needed to perform as well as the better PC monitors. (Allthough they are improving all the time.) Edited by Zakelwe at: 3/12/00 5:57:01 pm<

Hmm. Somethings went goofy in my last post. The URL hasnt came out right, and when I went to edit the message, all that came out on the edit screen was the first line of my post. I dont want to post the URL again because when I posted it the first time, it took ages for the page to load again.<
>Could one of the Admins delete it if its causing any bother. <

Hi Zak! <
>I know what you mean about the edit. I already contacted Bug Reports regarding this and the problem is caused by a bug in the system. This is happening at all Ezboards and it's really annoying because many times I tried editing my posts where there is a long text and more often than not there is a huge part of the text missing!!! Ezboard said that they will fix this problem on their next upgrade, so I am waiting to hear from them as to when is that upgrade going to take place. Grrrrrrrr!!!!!<
><
>Regarding the ability to post a link...I might have to report that to Bug Reports too I think...because last night that happened to me too, and it should work because it's set in a way that it will create the link automatically.<
>I am sorry that it caused you so much trouble to post that link....<
><
>BTW...do you have a lot of trouble loading this forum page??? If so...please let me know and I will make some changes to speed it up if that's the case. <
