Tales of Symphonia. After about 23 hours, I'm just about ready for the Abyssion side-quest and Derris-Kharlan, Take Two. This is one of the better RPGs I've ever played. It puts the emphasis where it belongs: the story.

I haven't played a really good RPG in so long, I may even look into that one!

Finished another backlogged game in "Prey" for 360 and now just jumping around various titles collecting achievements like crazy :dgrin: Finally passed the 10k mark this week  At least until I hopefully grab Super Paper Mario for the Wii next week... that one looks too addicting :gamer:

Good progress, Kenseiden! What other RPG's would
you consider to be worthy that you have play-
ed so far? Congratulations you are achiev-
ents Roemello! How does it feel to reac-
h that 10K mark (laughs)? I have
not played Prey in the longes-
t. There is a 1-800 numb-
er I can call for you if
you wish (laugh-
s)! Good luck!

Tales of Symphonia. I beat the game yesterday in 31 hours, 3 minutes. Now I'm trying again so I can complete the Abyssion side-quest.

That is good GreenTea! The only problem with going on quests by
yourself is that you risk your existence if you enter a dungeon
that is populated by higher level creatures, right (or am I i-
ncorrect in this)? If you die, do you lose your level and y-
our items? If that is the case, going alone is good only
if you know what you are getting into. Having a l-
arge party is fun, though experience gets split
in too many ways... however, having the a-
dditional support helps in troubling time-
s though. Did you increase your level y-
et? I tried Crystal Chronicles, Kensei-
den but could not get into it. Mayb-
e I should give it another chanc-
e one day. Most of the RPGs y-
ou mention are ones I have
not tried mainly due to s-
o many other titles bei-
ng available at the t-
ime... plus I rarel-
y have time for
the non-RPGs

Oh, you risk an ugly death, but there is no loss of level, experience points, or inventory items. There are two ways to resurrect: to run back to your corpse in ghost form and rez nearby, at no cost to your equipment but some risk to be jumped by aggros and killed again; or to rez directly at the spot where you appear in ghost form, with durability damage to your equipment and inventory items, as well as a brief time of "resurrection sickness" where you lose a percentage of your hp and mana. In my case, if I choose the latter option, I'm usually back at full health by the time I run to the next town to repair my equipment. If you tend to die a lot, you do spend a great deal of time running around, whichever form of resurrection you choose.

I haven't played much in the past week, due to the nicer weather and real life commitments that result; however, I was able to gain another level this morning with Orynne, to level 23. She's already half-way to level 24, due to a quest I completed this morning. :)

I could understand what you mean about the good weather,
GreenTea! I have not been playing much aside from the
portables myself as a result (laughs)! Tis good that t-
here is a penalty for having a character killed th-
ough, however it is great that the penalty is n-
ot as severe as I mentioned it to be. Also, I w-
as going to ask, can anyone steal your ite-
ms if you fail to find your body at all, a-
nd is it possible to lose your body? Ju-
st curious... that is all. Congratula-
tions on reaching 23 by the way!
How are those games if you do
not mind me asking, Poison
J? Have you ever tried to
utilize the multiplaye-
r feature in Crystal
Chronicles, Kens-
eiden? I wish it
was better d-

Conn-

with other pl-
ayers that is. Th-

I haven't experienced corpse-robbing, but I can't speak for what happens in PVP, since I play strictly PVE. Since I'm extremely directionally-challenged, I tend to lose track of where my corpse is...especially if it's within a cave, or maze-type area. That's the point where I choose to resurrect immediately, and take my chances on durability damage and the wait time for the resurrection sickness to pass.

DIRECTIONALLY CHALLENGED, EH? LAUGHS!

Post by soloist »

I can understand that, GreenTea! What is the difference
between PVP and PVE? It seems that people can us-
e this as a strategy to get items to sell rather
quickly. Simple lure a noob into a chall-
enging dungeon and after they die,
steal their items. Have you ev-

Playing strictly PVE, I haven't been attacked by other players in my travels. The closest I've come to PVP was when I accidentally stumbled into enemy territory and got attacked by two higher-level NPC guards. That triggered PVP mode, which I toggled off once I returned to retrieve my corpse.

PVE players' names appear in blue script, and PVP players' names appear in green script. This way, it's easy to tell who's playing in which manner. Whether someone playing in PVP mode can attack someone playing in PVE mode, I don't know.

I've been trapped many times in mob-infested areas, mostly caves or buildings, where my strategy was to run for the exit to see if I could die close enough to the exit to be able to resurrect outside where the concentration of mobs was much lower. I've also had to log out in some dangerous areas, simply because back-tracking would have taken longer than my available time to play, or I was too far into a quest to want to go back and start over. In those instances, I try to put myself on higher ground, such as a rock formation or cliff, so that when I log back in, I can perhaps see what's coming and avert an untimely demise.

Being a hunter, and rather weak in melee combat, I try to skirt areas and pick off mobs at long range. Depending on their level, I can handle up to three mobs at once, if I accidentally pull them in, so long as my pet can hold out as well. I use him as my tank, whilst I volley from afar. This works well in open areas, but it's the sh!ts in close quarters like buildings and caves. :\

FFCC's multiplayer mode is quite original and well thought out. Requiring each player to use a GBA keeps the main screen less cluttered.
