Please explain to us less-shooter-enlightened people how that guy managed to look like he was running into everything, and yet not. O_o() Alas...earwax.

Re: holy sweet honking jeebus
Oh, that. That game is Ikaruga, a shooter that I think was released originally for Dreamcast or something and then later for Gamecube. The way it works is that your ship has two halves, a light half and a dark half, and you can flip between the two at will. The enemies and enemy fire on screen are either light-type or dark-type, too. If you have the light half of your ship out, then light-type enemies and bullets can't hurt you. Rather, you absorb them to charge up your uber-attack. If you get hit with a dark attack while in light mode, though, you die, and vice versa. The game forces you to keep flipping between the two types in order to make it through the game, as you saw in the video. Hard as all hell, but fun, or so I've read. I oughta play it someday, though I'd probably suck at it, seeing as I haven't played a shooter like that since Raiden Project on PS1 like eight years ago. <
><
>Anyway, that's about it. That guy is a freak of nature not only for having that precise of type-switching control, but for being able to perfectly control two ships at once... each with one hand. Ambidexterity is one thing, but seriously. That is just superhuman skill right there. <

I call bullshit on that one.<

Oh, I know what ambidextrous is Soloist.<

Re: holy sweet honking jeebus
Dude, I see nothing in that video that can't be accomplished through a combination of natural freakish coordination and insane amounts of practice. Keep in mind that we're talking about a game here. The enemies and elements in it always show up in the same place. That guy probably memorized their patterns to the point of turning the appropriate response into subconscious reflex, making trying to focus on two things at once a nonissue. The rest is just pure inborn skill. Think about it - does a master piano player try and focus on the keys on both ends of the piano at once? No. They train their hands to carry out the motions instinctively. I'd be willing to bet this video is that same type of thing.<
><
>And anyway, what makes you so freakin' skeptical? Just because you can't imagine something being possible doesn't mean it actually is that way. I bet there is somebody out there who can type with one hand and use a mouse or do something else with the other. It's just a matter of getting one action down to the point of subconscious so that you don't have to focus on both of them at once. <

He actually did that for every level of the game. I found recordings of them all somewhere once. <
