According to the AFI (The American Film Institute) those are the best 100 films of all time. They asked more than 1,500 members of the film community to pick the 100 best films of all time from a list of 400 movies nominated by the institute. The criteria for inclusion was historical significance, critical recognition and awards, and popularity determined by box-office revenue, syndication, video sale and rental figures.

Well, there are certainly amazing and unforgettable movies on the list! AFI lists are always excellent and I love their TV specials! :)

Tootsie at no. 62, or even on the list at all is questionable
in my opinion. I have favorites that I would place on the
list, but those on the list that I have seen are great movies...

By and large, I can agree with that...though I will always picture The Grapes of Wrath and To Kill a Mockingbird as books and not movies.

Also, WTF is Snow White doing up there? I've seen beer commercials with better storylines than that.

i never got the whole Citizen Kane as the best movie of all time thing. i've watched it twice, well one and a half seeing as i fell asleep the second time around. at least the Godfather's in the top 3.
