MS announces ripoff Xbox 360 prices.

Re: MS announces ripoff Xbox 360 prices.
Those prices are only for the obsessed fanboys who are willing to pay a bazillion dollars just to have the system the first day it's out. If you just wait a month or two, those prices will proabably drop. Then they'll only sorta be a ripoff. <

Re: MS announces ripoff Xbox 360 prices.
Yeah, but it's still more expensive than it should be. There's no excuse for a game system today to cost more than about $250 at launch and then about $200 a few months after that. Seriously. Technology keeps getting better and cheaper so fast that it doesn't make sense to have game systems cost that much anymore. <

>Yeah, and as sad as this is, that's the REALLY sad part. The PS3 is gonna be so expensive that half of gamers out there are barely gonna be able to afford it, even after the price drops after a while. Risky move on Sony's part, IMO. Revolution may not have the processing power of Xbox 360 or PS3, but it's gonna cost about 2/3 the price of 360 and literally about half the price of PS3. As one comment I saw somewhere or another said, "Revolution seems like it might become an auxiliary system that people have in addition to an Xbox 360 or a PS3." If that's the way it turns out, Nintendo will make a killing, because while Microsoft and Sony duke it out over the high-end market, the low-end market will belong entirely to them. It'll be really interesting to see if this proves as insightful as it seems at the moment. <

Re: MS announces ripoff Xbox 360 prices.
Yeah, Nintendo's level of third party support they receive for Revolution will really be the test of whether they've lost their sense for the console market or not. They're not dead yet by any means, but this'll show conclusively whether they're really slipping or not.<

>I don't plan on getting a 360 at all unless they get more good RPGs on it than were on Xbox. Xbox had all of like, two RPGs and none which were good enough to warrant a system purchase. PS2 has been an RPG machine, and PS3 probably will be, too. I'll just have to wait over a year before I even considering buying one. I don't really feel like spending $500 or more on a gaming system. <

Re: MS announces ripoff Xbox 360 prices.
The Xbox was a great system for those with PC's not fit for gaming. <

Re: MS announces ripoff Xbox 360 prices.
At least revolution isn't going to be super expensive. It'll probably be $199 like all the other nintendo consoles. Re: MS announces ripoff Xbox 360 prices.
Xbox was definitely a good multiplayer system, but that really does me no good. I don't play multiplayer games very much, and if I do, it's with a bunch of people in person, not online. I just never got into online gaming because I never had a gaming-quality PC growing up. <

The way the $ is now, that'd only be $240ish here. ^_^ <i>There are many rules of<

That's arbitrary. It's still the same relative amount of money. <

Re: MS announces ripoff Xbox 360 prices.
For you, yes. For me, no. Remember, just because the amount of Canadian money you get for your US money went down doesn't mean that prices up here went down. $50 isn't worth any more here than it was before -- perhaps a bit less due to inflation -- it only means it's worth more down there. And console prices are based on the American market entirely.<
><
>So while it'd be useless for you to convert currencies and then buy it, those of us living in the Canadian market are seeing a $60 price cut. $240 now is still $60 cheaper than $300 then.<
><
>Same amount of money from an American standpoint, yes. But it means $60 more Canadian money left in my pocket if I buy one. Which, by the by, is $50 American, so actually, I still come out on top from a US dollar standpoint too. In short, it's way cheaper for us to buy things with US pricing.<

Frog I have to cream you in Mario Kart DS and SSB Revolution! "As long as there are dreamers who have the courage to follow their dreams, there will be heroes. Re: MS announces ripoff Xbox 360 prices.
Erm... so lemme get this straight. A GC, for example, that costs US $150 here also costs Canadian $150, even though US $1 isn't directly equal to Canadian $1? Was that what you were saying, or is my econ lobe still fried from the last two quarters of college? <
