Vacation went very well.
We got a nice spot too. It had a little enclosed section off the side that was both surrounded and covered in trees -- almost like a natural closet -- that was a good ten degrees lower than anywhere nearby. (I guess for Americans that would be more like twenty degrees cooler, or something.)
We also had some friendly ducks at the shore that were rather amusing. It's a bird reserve, so they are a bit bolder than totally wild ducks might be, though still rather cautious. Other local bird life included the usual -- loons, geese, a few chickadees, magpie (:x), robin, blackbirds, and one type of bird I don't actually know the name of -- about the size of a small starling, but all gray, and makes a call something like "Hewey" oddly enough.
Several minor stories I can probably come up with throughout the trip, but for now I'll leave it there. At the very least I need to catch up with things around here.
