doin' the free agent shuffle
Man, it's only been like three days since the NHL free agent market opened, and already well over half a dozen big names have moved around. The pickups:<

Re: doin' the free agent shuffle
I'm happy now. I just got word of Sportsnet.com that the Canucks have resigned Markus Naslund. In fact, the remaining majority of our team has received qualifying offers as well.<
><
>So all that's left to see is if anyone new comes our way. Now I wanna know if we can net Forsberg. >_> (No idea how much cash the Canucks have left . . . but he did express an interest in wanting to play with Naslund.) There are many rules of<

Re: doin' the free agent shuffle
Wouldn't that piss the Avs off to lose their best player to their #2 rival...the only thing more hilarious would be if the Canucks promptly traded him to Detroit.

v_v That would've been beautiful too. Oh well, being realistic, I knew it'd never happen. :b<

Re: doin' the free agent shuffle
Yeah, he was awesome, with his 1337 lost cause hairdo, and his 50 jillion kmph shot that hit a random point on the other side of the rink. XD<
><
>Alas. They may have just been trimming off a bit of salary with that move. They did make 15 Qualifying Offers, including Morrison and Ohlund, who probably bear decent price tags themselves. There are many rules of<

Re: doin' the free agent shuffle
Feh... Modano's no more of a hack than Thugtuzzi. At least he doesn't smash people's faces into the ice like a moron and get suspended and convicted of assault. <
><
>Well, whatever. The Jackets just signed Berard to go along with Foote, so now we actually have an awesome defense which can score. All we need now is a top-line center to go along with Nash and we'll be set. Muaha! <
><
>I haven't seen Sopel's hair before. What is it, like some kinda crazy mullet-like thing or something? <

Re: doin' the free agent shuffle
I can't find a decent pic of it on the ice. It's not really any sort of hairdo, it's just kinda . . . everywhere. Here is a pic of it straighter than it ever was while he played though.<
><
>And you should know Tanis's definition of hack doesn't necessarily refer to mean-spirited players. I think he was accusing Modano of being too old to hold his own or something.<
><

Yeah, enough with that already.<

Re: doin' the free agent shuffle
Well, Modano wanted to finish his career in Dallas which I think is awesome. It's obvious that he knows he is getting up there, but he wants to play with the team he has loved for years. <

Re: doin' the free agent shuffle
A few things about this free agent shuffle:<
><
>First off, I am sorely disappointed in the Red Wings. They have signed no one. The only players they signed were Schneider, Chelios, and Yzerman, all geezers. They let McCarty go to Calgary. I don't even know if they will hang onto Zetterberg. It's as if they stopped trying.<
><
>Second off, what Bertuzzi did is unforgivable. Steve Moore might have done somethign dumb, but it's the refs' fault for not calling anything. Bertuzzi's actions were the equivalent of crippling someone for the crime of kicking them in the shins. To say Moore deserved it was outrageous, and if the shoe were on the other foot, Nakor and Tanis would be calling for Moore's head. (I refer to if Bertuzzi played for the Avs and Moore for Vancouver.) The subject cannot be dropped, and i don't care if I get flamed for this. I hate the Avs as much as anyone here, but Moore got way more than just simple "players policing themselves" punishment. He and Claude Lemieux should be run out of the league.

Re: doin' the free agent shuffle
And, oddly enough, if it was, say, Brad May who slashed, say, Yzerman with the intent of putting him out for a number of weeks, and, say, Chelios who sucker punched May in retaliation, then you would be defending him as well Rays.<
