iPhone 7

Post by Shawn »

So, for many years I said I'd never use an iphone and last week I got talked into getting one by my daughter. She has been using one for a few years and I was staying with the Samsung Galaxy series but my Galaxy S7 was getting hot when being charged and using it. It wasn't a normal thing for it to do and with the Note 7 battery problems I think the S7 will be next.
I don't like that I can't add a micro sd card,so I got the 256Gb version.

It's been a challenge to figure this phone out but I'm getting better with it. I gave up on Samsung phones now. I like their TVs and have a 40" curved tv that looks great and it's a smart tv as well.

Hopefully I'll learn this phone soon. Going to a concert and plan to take a lot of pics and maybe a few videos.

Congrats on your new purchase, Shawn! :thumb:

When you get a chance, give us a full review on how you liked the camera for videos, etc.

Welcome to the darkside :dgrin: Honestly, there should be nothing to learning an iphone, though... that's part of what I love about 'em. Everything's streamlined and easy to use. I've set up Android based phones for people and it's always a pain in the arse. Iphones I get up and rolling in no time. The camera's quite good, too... I shot at an NFL game last year with my 6S and everything came out exceptionally well!

I'm still learning everything since I have never used the iPhone before and have always used androids.
I will say setting it up for me was harder since I was not familiar with the OS but I got everything on my my phone except for music which I am waiting until after a concert to put some on it.
A few things I hate are no headphone jack but the supplier part was in the box.
They keyboard has been a challenge to get used to but autocorrect works very well and it also throws out suggestions of what I am going to type so I use it a lot. But sometimes it does have a mind of it's own and I have to proof read what I type which is annoying.
Pictures me video are exactly what I expected and look very good. With a 3rd party app I can shoot in raw format and then edit later but I have yet to try it.

I'll say I am more impressed with it then i thought I would be and plan to keep this one and learn more about it. I won't be buying anymore Samsung phones after the S7 problem and they seem to be going downhill now. I do own a Samsung smart TV which I like and will always buy their TVs because of the picture quality. I had several to choose from and had many side by side for comparison and the Samsung had the best picture and the options I was looking for.
Back to the iPhone. iOS 10 seems like a good starting point for me since it has a lot of the options I had on my S7 and then some. I use the fingerprint security on this one which is 10x better the on the Samsung phones I have owned. I just have to sit my finger ok it and it opens right up instead of having to run my finger over it and still have problems opening. The iPhone hasn't let me down yet.

Couldn't do the iPhone anymore and now have the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. I'm an android person and really like the S8 more. I was going to get the S7 again but since the S8 was about the same price,I went with the newer and better phone.
