That game got CRAZY after the dragon fight! Due to the fact the enemies were nearly overmatching me a bit, I just went ahead and finished the game and now I'm into my second playthrough. Now that I can use portcrystals and ferrystones all over the place, it's a lot less monotonous  Although I'm still doing some foot travel as I wanna boost my levels higher before I take on those high level enemies after the final dragon fight.

Indeed the new enemies do pose a greater threat, especially at lower
levels. This is why I decided to level up at Everfall (and I'm still t-
here now, laughs). Also, for the new content (aka Dark Arise-
n), it is advised that the player be at least at level 50 be-
fore entering this location. I'm not certain as to whe-
ther the enemies in Blackwater Isle (aka Dark Ari-
sen's new area) are as challenging as the ene-
mies after defeating the end dragon, but
I didn't want to take any chances. W-
ell, that and I wanted access to
the loot of Everfall. Here's a
bit of a spoiler: Upon pur-
chasing Dark Arisen, th-
e player eventually
gains access to
an infinite
Ferry s-
tone. And
yes, it works
as it sounds. It's
a Ferry stone that c-
an be used an infinite a-
mount of times... so you w-
on't need to rely on single Ferr-
y stones any more. Plus, you acqui-
re this stone early in the play-through.

I'm still having fun

ing New Lea-

earn m-

Level 71 now and been using Mystic Knight.... another fun class to use! Slicing through enemies like butter at this point.... see how much better I can do in the everfall when I get back to that point.

Congratulations on making progress with the Mystical Knight class! Said class
seems to be cumbersome to me initially especially since they don't fit m-
y play-style, but it's good to know that the MK suits you. It's great th-
at you've reached level 71. Once you get back to Everfall, you m-
ay get addicted to the wealth of items that's available there
if you're a collector of high-class items - to which there's
plenty! When defeating a Drake, whatever items you-
r main character is wearing can become upgrade-
d... so try to defeat them whenever you enc-
ounter one. There's a specific chamber y-
ou can enter in Everfall to fight them
or you can visit some of the locat-
ions available in the video tha-
t I'll post below. The Mystic
Knight has access to som-
e HUGE weapons that
I've seen... and so-
me of the most
powerful as
well it w-
ould ap-
pear.

Finished round 2 of my playthrough and back in the everfall... this time having a bit more luck fighting through it. I'm at the point where I can slice through Ogres, Cyclops and Chimeras like they were common bandits  So I'm hoping that'll give me an edge when I face the Gorechimeras and especially the UR-Dragon. Wyrm, Wyvern & Drake I've killed off with relative ease as well... and the Cockatrice. So maybe I'll stay a while in the everfall and load up, too.

7/29 edit:

Now up to level 116, finished two playthroughs and at the end of the third. Full 1000 achievements and still rolling on! Before I finish a third time, I'm doing Bitterblack Island. If you haven't started this yet Soloist and enjoy the everfall, you'll LOVE this area!! HUUUUUUUGE epic boss battles and some funky new enemies in a very maze like area. I just killed off an evil eye that was like 100x bigger than the one in the everfall

Whoa! At level 116 and still getting killed off? I knew Bitterblack Isle was a challenge
and yes, I've heard of some of the denizens of this location including that huge
eye and that building sized golem. Oh, and then there's Death who has a
instant-kill attack which can leave a player dead or pawn-less. It ca-
n be defeated though since the damage done to it accumulate-
s after each encounter. That huge eye looks freaky, espec-
ially when it starts conjuring up spells using its eyelid-
s as a mouth to speak the enchantment. I'll have
to find my way back to Dragon's Dogma, but
first I'll have to break away from Anima-
l Crossing New Leaf (laughs). I kne-
w you'd be able to appreciate
Dark Arisen. I'm sure you
managed to acquire
that infinite fer-
rystone by
now, h-
uh?

Well, I haven't been killed off yet, really... though this one ghost mage necromancer type boss sliced through about 4 wakestones.... kept bringing a cursed dragon back to life and shot out an instant kill attack! I've beaten the enormous cyclops bigger than a building... I've also encountered Death twice and lived to tell the tale... it'll take forever to knock that sucker's health down. But yeah... it's EXTREMELY challenging even at as high a level as I am... and they load boss battles on ya one after another, so if you're not prepared, you're screwed.... you get no chance for rest and the guy that lets ya manage your inventory is a random spawn... by the time ya see him, it's a huge sigh of relief as ya saunter up half dead  Still... no battle yet has been as hectic and controller killing as the Fate Hall in everfall... with the gorechimera, chimera, Wight and 6 hellhounds... that battle had me going crazy  Of course I was low level then... I smoke chimeras like wolves at this point, so probably easier if I went at it now.

And yes... the eternal ferrystone was placed in my inventory automatically and has been necessity... especially when collecting the "From a Distant Sky" medallions. The game is more enjoyable with the fast travel, though... even if still slightly limiting.

I guess it's safe to say that you've encountered more in Bitterblack Isle than you have
in the original game then? Then again, playing for the first time was quite the sh-
ock for you since I'm certain you approached it from a Skyrim perspective wh-
ich does work too well in this game. I guess it's going to be a while before
I'm able to get back into Dragon's Dogma since I'm so into making prog-
ress in Animal Crossing: New Leaf at the moment, but that'll chang-
e this coming Tuesday since Dragon's Crown will be released the-
n. Actually, it's already available in my area, but I pre-purch-
ased it at an EB/Gamestop in my area for the art book, so
I'll wait. I'll post information about this game on a sep-
arate thread, but it's a game with a surprising amo-
unt of depth for a game of this genre and this c-
aught me off guard because I didn't think the-
re was much that could be done for such a
game to add to the replay factor and pr-
ovide an additional layer of depth. B-
ut getting back to Dragon's Dogma,
for me, the hall that gave me th-
e most trouble was Apprehens-
ion since those two Cockatri-
ces kept petrifying my cha-
racters and I never seem
to have enough soften-
ers and my character-
rs wouldn't use the-
m even if I equip-
ped them with
such items b-
efore the b-
atter beg-
an. Wit-
h the
Ha-
ll of F-
ate, I wo-
uld concentr-
ate on the Wigh-
ts first, then the G-
ore Chimeras, then th-
e Hell Hounds and finally,
the standard Chimeras. My F-
ighter did well with this, though
my Magic Archer fares poorly with t-
his hall. When I do get around to playin-
g DD again, I'll make sure to have plenty of
curatives and items to eliminate effects. Also,
I'll be certain to employ healers with an inclinati-
on of medicant as primary and utilitarian as seconda-
ry to insure that they'll be effective in keeping my char-
acter free of effects and well supported via healing. I'm sti-
ll playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf, so it may be quite a while.

Still going through Dragon's Dogma... most time I've spent on a single title since Skyrim  Level 171 now, finished Bitterblack Isle 3 times and still going. My Magick Archer is so overpowering, it takes two Firedrakes at a time to give me any trouble  Still trying to get the highest level gear... and finish all the quests, then maybe I'll finally be done :p

My goodness! You've made quite the bit of progress! I haven't played it
since Animal Crossing: New Leaf came into the picture (laughs) a-
nd now that I have Dragon's Crown and am heavily involved
in both, I'm not sure when I'll get back into Dragon's Do-
gma. In Dragon's Crown (Vita), I'm at level 71 and h-
ave completed the game on the normal and ha-
rd settings... so now I'm playing the Inferno
etting which is VERY rough. I could get h-
elp from online players, but I'd like t-
o do this on my own. I'm really en-
joying this game. Now when G-
rand Theft Auto V is relea-
sed, both of these gam-
es just may be forg-
otten for a whil-
e (laughs). H-
ave you m-
ade any
more
progress
in Dragon's D-
ogma since the l-
ast post? I'm sure yo-
u've gotten much strong-
er by then. I knew you'd enj-
oy the Dragon's Dogma experien-
ce! The action is amazing so battles
are actually fun and require some degr-
ee of real skill (well, at lower levels anyw-
ay... laughs). Drat! Now I feel like getting bac-
k into Dragon's Dogma (laughs). Maybe on Sunday.

That I have... level infinite now.. capped off  Got all level 3 gold rarified gear, all quests complete. I think it might be time to crack open Assassin's Creed 3. Got that on sale for $20 some weeks back, so that'll be next! My next addiction will be WWE 2K14 at the end of October :gamer:

Whoa! Congratulations on capping out your character! I guess
I should search for your character or hope to meet him o-
r her to aid me in my questing as a Pawn, eh? Yes, I k-
now it's going to cost me A LOT to use your charac-
ter, but it'll be worth it since they're at the ma-
x. There's a trick to getting a free high level
Pawn though. It's been said that if the pe-
rson that a player is getting a Pawn fr-
om is a friend of theirs (aka on the-
ir friends list), then the charact-
er can be used for free. I hav-
e not tried this since blazi-
ng through the enemies
that easy would mak-
e the game dull. I-
t may be fun fo-
r a bit, but I
will go at
it at m-
y ow-
n
pace.
I still hav-
e not touche-
d Assassin's Cree-
d 3 yet myself, and a-
t this rate, I may not be a-
ble to (laughs). I'm going to s-
ave WWE 2K14 for the holiday, so
GTA 5 will be my last game before th-
e holiday titles. Good luck with Creed 3.
By the way, that's a nice sale you got there.

Re: What are you playing right now?

I never actually went online with the game, so my pawn won't be there. I read too many things about the latest patch to the game destroying saves, so to play it safe, I never patched it and just played offline the entire time... not worth the risk just for the online pawn system. It does start to get stale when you're overpowered, though... I can kill a chimera with two shots of the six-fold bolt. When I stack the Demon Periapt, I can waste dragons and the even the end boss of Bitterblack in minutes. Was rewarding at first, though after all the difficulty getting to that point.

And yes.. very good sale. That's basically the only way I buy games, now... I don't get 'em new anymore, just wait it out for the price drop and then grab 'em late.. not in any rush. Exceeeeeept for Zelda, Elder Scrolls and WWE titles... only ones I'll spring full price for getting immediately, but everything else can wait. I got tired of seeing games I paid full price for going for $20-30 within a matter of months, so all done with that with the few gleaming exceptions.

Re: What are you playing right now?

I agree with your idea on having an overpowered character in ones party and how it
ruins the experience. I learned of the trick to get a friend's high level character
as a Pawn soon after first playing Dragon's Dogma, though I played the game
well after it was initially released. The Pawns I've always chosen were n-
ever more than 3 or 4 levels higher than I was, even when I could aff-
ord higher. I never knew about the issue to potentially ruin one's g-
ame-save via going online. I'm thinking by now that a patch wo-
uld have been released to prevent this, but after spending
so much time building up a character, why take the ch-
ance? Ultimately, it's not worth it, and to me, the j-
ourney to getting that powerful is part of the ex-
perience that makes the game so enjoyable.
Since your character is so powerful, for f-
un, you can always fight without Pawn-
s or select a different class to keep
things interesting. I also agree w-
ith your notion concerning ref-
raining from obtaining title-
s upon initial release. Th-
e next I'll pick up in th-
is manner is GTA V.
Everything else c-
an wait for no-
w. Games, a-
re starting
to have
little
retail va-
lue now, so
what used to b-
e valuable is now s-
tandardly available or
obtainable. There are ple-
nty of games that I wanted to
get, but since I have little time t-
o get into them all, I just watch vide-
os of those which I doubt that I'll get to p-
lay. I'm still hopeful for Fallout 3 (which I still
haven't played but I hope that I will one day). For
the moment, I'm still making progress in Animal Cros-
sing New Leaf (3DS) and Dragon's Crown (Vita). At this ra-
te, they'll be the only games I'll advance in until GTA V which
I hope gets released early in my area. Some people at my workpl-
ace have already taken that week off (laughs). I'll wait until the wee-
kend before I make significant progress in it when I obtain this game. I'm
saving my vacation time for emergencies (laughs). How are you doing with A-
ssassin's Creed 3, Roemello? I still haven't opened my copy as of this very moment.
