Re: Magicka: Wizard Wars teaser & trailer
Thanks for posting this, Nakor! It looks very
interesting. I've never played a PC gam-
e or even tried the mode PvP, so it
looks good. The amount of atta-
cks and their effects can var-
y depending on situations
so the knowledgeable
will prove to be qu-
ite valuable. Th-
e gameplay f-
ootage ma-
de a dif-
feren-
ce.

Re: Magicka: Wizard Wars teaser & trailer
I think not playing Magicka is forgivable. It's a great game, but definitely meant to be a multiplayer experience, so if you're not able to play through the whole thing with a group, it might not be worth it. Part of the fun is how the spells interact with each other when you have four players all firing overpowered nukes around, and the difficulty of the game doesn't scale down for single player, making it a frustrating experience solo. (The game is built around the four-player game where you can almost instantly revive other players, meaning the game only kills your party if you completely wipe. So when the game gets hard enough to wipe four-player teams where every player can almost instantly revive any other, getting between checkpoints without dying once as a single player quickly becomes a difficult affair, and in the late game is just incredibly frustrating.)

Laughs! I'm certain that if I were to produce of list of games that gamers
of my age group have played, you'd be surprised at how many game-
s that I probably should have played since I was REALLY into ga-
ming back then and played A LOT! It seems as though this g-
ame benefits the player more if their in a group and one
who works well together with gamers knowing which
roles they'll play and are satisfied with being in s-
uch positions. The Pawn system in Dragon's Do-
gma would work well here for someone who
may have difficulty finding partners to pl-
ay with during a "solo" experience. Th-
en again, A.I. support characters c-
annot even be as effective as re-
al players... well, so as long a-
s they're skilled enough to
participate (laughs). I g-
uess later on in the g-
ame, gamers are e-
xpected to be sk-
