I bought this Linksys router so I could take advantage of my wireless laptop. Works great! This router is supposed to be more functional and more stable if you upgrade to third
party Linux firmware such as dd-wrt or Tomato. It works so well now that I probably will leave well enough alone....

I've been having connection problems with my linksys router but mine is about 5-6 years old.I've upgraded the firmware but no change. It looses connection and its' hard to get into the settings.
Sometimes I am locked out of them. AI keep wireless off most of the time.I live in an apartment complex and don't want someone using my internet for their pleasure. I only kick it on when I need it for the computer upstairs when I transfer music to the computer behind the drum set.
Also kick it on if I want to download a video to my phone using tubedroid.

Could be lots of interference happening at your apartment complex. I wonder if you get better signal strength and link quality late at night?
I have a USB wi-fi adapter with a 5db high gain antenna that I plug into my laptop at work when I take it to the outer reaches of the building.
It really picks up nearly 80% signal strength from anywhere but I still don't get a very reliable connection from distance until the building
"quiets" down at night.
I don't worry much about turning off my wi-fi at home. It has WPA2 security with a key. Not perfect, but I understand it is pretty secure....
There is a free program called Netstumbler that is supposed to be pretty good at locating wi-fi signal and associated stats. It wasn't compatible
with my adapters though, so I can't comment on it, but I did get a free program from CNET downloads called WirelessNetView. It definitely
detects and displays more info about the networks around you than Windows or the Linksys utility will report....
