Post Your Desktop: Fall, 2009 Edition

Post by TStodden »

It's fall & time once again for the social thread we know (& enjoy) as Post Your Desktop!

As always, there's are some rules to observe here.

1) Keep any pictures of your desktop clean & relatively inoffensive -- This is a family friendly site.
2) Close or minimize any sensitive windows (any steamy IM's, bank webpages, ect) before taking your snapshot.
3) Please do thumbnails (about 25% actual size) instead of full pictures -- You can link to the full-scale ones later. Mostly for modem users & those with smaller screen resolutions (to avoid side-scrolling)
4) Please use a Image Hosting site like Photobucket ( http://www.photobucket.com) or TinyPic ( http://www.tinypic.com ) instead of using the file uploading option here -- You'll have more control over your pictures & less restrictions to deal with than using the file upload option.
5) Please do not start a new post list this until AFTER CHRISTMAS -- This thread series is only done once every 3 months.

Please be aware that STANDARD FORUM RULES STILL APPLY HERE!

With that said, I'll start things off. Since it's the Halloween season, I'm running through my collection of Penny Arcade's Armadeaddon series.

Yes, I changed my Windowblinds skin as well. I'll be changing between then on a weekly basis or so...

OK, I've showed you mine... Now show me yours!

Here's mine. I've had it for probably close to a year now simply because I've yet to find another one that is as epic win.

Yeah, I don't recognize it, either. It doesn't look like a char from any anime I've seen, though I can't claim to have watched too many ultra-kawaii shoujo shows with an art style like that. Maybe it's a scan from a specific artist's artbook?

I found it via Google last year while looking for 1280x800 walls. She cute nonetheless. I love her cute little fang. ^^

LOL So nobody knows where the char comes from. Oh well. But yeah, she is cute, though, and she does have the chibi vampy fang. :chew: I tend to love the one-fanged chars in anime, actually. They usually have a looney, hyperactive, catlike and/or sneaky evel personality, like Excel from Excel Saga. :D

Stupidly enough, I actually tend to be really picky about wallpapers. For one thing, they have to have a clear enough space on the left side so that I can see my icons. Then I have to like the color scheme, background style, character pose, etc. etc. I guess that makes me a wallpaper Nazi? :looney:

I'm actually relatively fussy about them too. Though if I ever get around to cleaning off my desktop again it won't be for concern over icons.

As you can see in my screenshots (that top bar thingy), I use Rocketdock ( http://www.rocketdock.com ) to minimize clutter on my desktop. I'm no more than 2 clicks from access stuff that I use the most. I RARELY touch the start button on my computer except for logging off or shutting down. I installed the stacks & Kmenu add-ons to make it fully functional, but I've been happy with it every since.

The only thing that tends to clutter my desktop nowadays are the sticky notes I leave myself, although they are semi-transparent when they're not in focus.
