Beware the tiny ant!

Post by Roemello »

Found an ant tonight, so the macro lens was back in business! :mwaha: This time I made a size reference shot, too. This was just one of those teeny tiny black ants ya can barely see... they look like a dirt speck moving unless ya look extra close

So here's the reference with a dime:

And then the close ups....

Daaaaang... that's freakin' tiny. :twitch:  Honestly, nature amazes me with its ability to produce in insane variety of animals that are so small that they practically shouldn't be able to have functioning biological mechanisms on that scale.

The lens would be this:

The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens. Certainly not a low budget lens, but I've been quite pleased with it thus far! Still more improvement to be had though :bouncy:

About the size of the ant... I know! I was thinking the exact same thing looking at those shots after seeing the ant from outside the lens and it's amazing. Actually I was thinking about that more with how they have lungs in those little bodies... I was able to put that one to sleep in the same "gas chamber" as the spider

Excellent pics, Roemello! I agree Frong
that nature's ability to produce suc-
h complex designs is simply am-
azing... then again, the mo-
st simple of creations ar-
e worthy of praise up-
on viewing their d-
esigns and why
they functio-
n as they
do. Th-

dy is a wo-
nderful piece
of work in itself,
though one's inner-
most workings are le-
ss likely to astound tho-
se already familiar with it-
s functions such as a medica-
l physician, though even they ar-
e amazed by the many miracles tha-
t are experienced on such facilities. T-
he reference point helped out significant-
ly, Roemello. I doubt if you'll try a protozoa
next (laughs), but with that lense, I'd won't be
surprised. First, better help Ingrid with that itch.

But that would be if you had ants on you and you were laughing them off. You don't say LMHO for Laughing My Human Off, do you? :p

.......... That lens is INSANE... o_O

I don't have much more to say about it as that set of pictures pretty much says all that needs to be said.
