Thanks, Coffeehound! I cannot

to wait until after wor-

movie features are great, but I will have t-

Re: Sooo....What did YOU BUY this week???
We just went out yesterday and bought a new Kenmore refrigerator and also a new Kenmore freezer. The fridge I have now is approx. 28 years old.... and I'm not sure how old the stand up freezer we have is, my guess is 25 years old. Both are starting to go, so now is the time to replace them before summer gets here and they start leaking again lol. The new ones will be delivered on Monday and luckily they will be taking the old ones with them

That is great, Ingrid! I am anxious to learn what
conclusion you came to regarding the choice
of camera. My goodness Jodi! It's defini-
tely time for new appliances. If you c-
an afford it, the protection servic-
e is recommended, because we
have a dryer and washing m-

Re: Sooo....What did YOU BUY this week???
This time I got this:

It's the new HPI Savage Flux RC monster truck. It runs on a brushless motor. I got a new charger and two 8.4v nimh battery packs. It will also run on Lipo packs and the charger will work with those too. I'm not gonna say how much I spent on this and it's probably not the best thing for me to do in today's economy. But I'm having a lot of fun with it already.

That's great, Lagoon! Some may say that excess
spending in this unstable economy is not re-
commended, but some sense of happin-
ess keeps stress at bay, so whatev-
er helps with you enjoying your
existence on this earthly pl-
ane and is within one's s-
pending budget, go fo-
r it. My brother ha-

again, that
was back in 92
(laughs). Since th-
en, he's gotten a few
more, but I've not seen
them. Do you plan on cust-
omizing it to up the maximu-
m speed at all or are you not int-
o that aspect of this form of vehic-
ular interest? Nice investment by the
way! Do you think that you'll be racing o-
n concrete only or will it be exposed to the
dirt? The problem I had with racing in dirt is
the cleansing process after and making certai-
n that all internal components were free of dirt!!

Re: Sooo....What did YOU BUY this week???
I drove it in dirt the first run. Can hardly wait til it rains. Then I get to baptize it in mud the next day.
I think the only way to increase the speed is using Lipo battery packs and maybe changing the spur gear to one with a different number of teeth. Basically compromising acceleration for a higher top speed. Different tires will help too.
But I'm more interested in running it through dirt with varied terrain. The battery packs I'm using would be considered pretty low end but it's plenty enough speed where I run it. It already has enough power to lose control and take a spill, which has happened a few times. Once it did a few cartwheels but no damage.
Here's a decent youtube video from someone who has almost the same set up I have.

Re: Sooo....What did YOU BUY this week???
He made some great jumps in that video! I guess
if you're going to racing in dirt and concrete,
a new set of off-road tires will help, esp-
ecially if concrete is the choice of r-
oad to race on. Hopefully, you d-
id not have as many cartwhe-
els as that guy (laughs)! I
guess you need to be i-
n my area then sinc-
e it's expected to
rain all day. S-
o far, noth-
ing, but
by no-
on.

If
mem-
ory serv-
es me well,
my brother s-
wapped engine-
s, but he does no-
t mind mechanic wo-
rk on his vehicles. I wo-
uld not want to risk dama-
ging it or it's components, b-
ut my brother did not mind. He
even invested in individual compo-
nents so that upgrading would not be
a problem. Have you driven it in mud so
deep that it could not get enough traction t-
o free itself out of so far? Just curious of this.

Re: Sooo....What did YOU BUY this week???
I haven't driven this in mud yet. I've only had two runs with it so far. I forgot to say when mentioning how to make it faster, the motor is brushless so that's the best that can be done in terms of what motor to put in it. The Flux/Blur system is actually the Mamba Max by Castle Creations. They just changed the name for HPI, the company that makes the rest of the truck. And that's probably the best in brushless anyways.
The tires that come with it are already for offroad. The rubber is even a little softer than most that come with trucks like these. It grips the dirt like grasping hands.
As for deep mud, it's best to avoid mud like that. The mud has to be just right so that it's moist, but won't actually drip water. Because water is always a risk to the electrical components of the truck.

Re: Sooo....What did YOU BUY this week???
I see as far as upgrading goes with the
brushless system you mentioned, L-
agoon. My brother raced on bot-
h concrete and mud which is
why his tires wore out so
quickly in spite of bei-
ng built for off-roa-
d racing. He dro-
ve his truck w-
orse than th-

osted (la-

turns out, the-
re's been no rain
so far, so the predi-
ctions may be off by a
healthy degree, but the d-
ay is still young. Is there an
open field for you to drive you-
r Savage near-by? We used to ha-
ve an area just down the street (les-
s than a block away), but sadly, that pl-
ace has been torn down almost 10 years a-
go. The other location we actually had to dri-
ve to. We could have walked, but it was a 30 m-
inute walk and when carrying that heavy truck, we
both would have been exhausted. How heavy is yours?

Rice cooker (finally!
)! Got a 6 cup Rival rice cooker from Target. It was onky like 18 bucks and seems to work really well. I got some short grain sushi-type rice fom the Japanese market and made 2 cups of it. It came out just like the sticky rice you'd get in a restaurant, only maybe even stickier. W00tness.
