KITTAH!!!
Re: KITTAH!!!
Oh, Colby will still attempt to munch my regular glasses while they're still on my face if I let him. I simply don't let him, though. Works well enough.

Re: KITTAH!!!
You can blame me for bad eyesight or general stupidity, but do both of your cats/rulers sport red fur?

Re: KITTAH!!!
Red? Well, assuming that by red you mean orange, then yes. They're both marmalade kittahs. The easy ways to tell them apart are:
A) When they're together, Birdy is the bigger one
and
B) When they're apart, look at their fur length and the shape of their heads. Birdy has short fur and has a longer face, like a cheetah (she even has the cheetah stripes). Colby has longer fur and a shorter face, like a lion (he has a little neck ruff like a lion, too). It's funny how they have the similar traits to the bigger cats they most resemble.

Ah...see, in Germany we use to call cats with orange fur reds, although the english description is the more correct one.Frong wrote:Red? Well, assuming that by red you mean orange, then yes. They're both marmalade kittahs.
I had asked because completely orange female cats are a rarity, as the genes for the fur color are usually only passed on to male cats. In most cases, female orange cats are infertile by birth, too. Anyway, both are cutees and triggering the "want"-gene of my wife.Frong wrote:The easy ways to tell them apart are:

Re: KITTAH!!!
Really? Colby was the only boy in his litter of three, and at least one of Birdy's two siblings was a girl, too. They're all orange, so I guess that's really rare, then.wavemeister wrote:I had asked because completely orange female cats are a rarity, as the genes for the fur color are usually only passed on to male cats. But yeah, these are mine. Your wife can get her own dang lulz factories.

They are getting big. I miss seeing my cats snuggle together. Sparky and Cecil won't get along no matter what. =(

In that second one it looks like the one on the left is seriously irritated at being awoken by some human with a camera.

Re: KITTAH!!!
Nah, he only looks pissed because of the camera glare against the back of his eye and because he was squinting from having just woken up (he was already awake when I went to take his picture; he woke up just from me walking over to the couch).Nakor wrote:In that second one it looks like the one on the left is seriously irritated at being awoken by some human with a camera.
Also, his left eye has been bothering him again, so he doesn't open it as much as the right one, hence the pirate look. I just thought it was cute how he fell asleep upside down like that.

Yeah, they're definitely a lot bigger than they were before, though Birdy is still way more substantial than Colby. She's almost at normal cat size, but he's still kind of a midget. I gotta wonder if he's the runt of the litter, not that I care. It just means I'd have a small cat is all.Masamune wrote:They are getting big. I miss seeing my cats snuggle together. Birdy is getting her "big girl teeth" in now, too, as the vet put it.

Re: KITTAH!!!
Well, let's see here... to this date, they have managed to:Tanis wrote:Yays, kittehs!
So how much of your domicile have they managed to destroy?
1) Gnaw off the end of two slats from my living room blinds
This is gonna cost me when I move out someday, I'm sure
This is gonna cost me when I move out someday, I'm sure2) Knock my one countertop lamp off twice and force me to replace the bulb each time (the first time, the lamp was unsecured, but the second, the cloth bottom came off the lamp itself after I velcroed the bottom to the counter; the cloth part is now glued to the lamp base, so this won't be happening again
 )
)3) Fray the edge of my rug near the front door a bit, though this has ceased ever since I got them some pieces of even nappier rug to claw at
That's it for the actual destruction of property list.
The main issue right now is that last night, Birdy tried twice to gnaw on my big lamp's power cord, which forced me to try and pound home the message that this is one of the few absolutely prohibited things in my household. Naturally, the second I started walking towards her each time, she stopped and ran off to hide.

If I get home tonight and find more bite marks in the cord than there were yesterday, I'm seriously gonna have to go to Toys R Us and find a water gun out of season, though. I am not going to have my cat get electrocuted because she's a doofus and won't take the hint when I tell her not to do it.
