I have several flash drives: SanDisk, Kingston, PNY. I've had no problems with any of them.

That really kind of sums it up; most flash drive brands are fine. I've used SanDisk, Kingston, and LG myself with no issue. They're easy for manufacturers to make and quality is not at all a difficult issue, so they all tend to be about as good as the other. Basically just go with something that is of a brand (not some unheard of company), and base your purchase on the size of the drive, versus its price. All flash drives have about the same lifespan (which is based on how many times each block of data is written to). Your average flash drives will have around 50000–100000 or so write cycles, which is more than you'll probably ever use. (Reading data does not have any impact on the life of a flash drive, only writing or erasing data.)

They do, yeah, although they probably don't produce as many as other companies. My Ubuntu operating system is actually installed fully onto an LG flash drive, and it hasn't crashed yet (well, except for the couple times I messed around with things and crashed it myself ) and it's been through a major version update as well. I'd say running an operating system off a flash drive is a pretty good testament to its quality.
