Does it annoy you when people don't stay 'on Topic'?

For some reason, that's never bothered me. In fact, sometimes it gives the original topic an interesting twist.

I've known people who will get very anal about staying 'on topic' and I often wondered... what's the big deal?


Let those thoughts flow. Not knowing what someone's gonna say next can be fun.

Well, not that I have to tell ya that... Going off topic is the norm around here and you know what? I love it!


Now watch this thread turn into some sort of 'fluff thread' where everyone goes off topic about the staying on topic thread. If that makes any sense.

I usually don't mind, especially after 20 or more replies when it's hard to stay strictly on topic anyways.

It'd be hypocritical for me to say yes. >_> There are threads that it would be inappropriate for (for example, threads dealing with personal loss or major problems in life), but for the most part, it's no problem.

I used to try and keep things organized on topic, but the more I thought of it... how many topics slide down the chute never to be seen again anyway once the topic is over? So why not just let it roll once it's outlived it's 'on topic' properties? Anyone responding who hasn't yet can always post an on topic post that can slide it back on topic, too... I've seen that happen And of course where necessary, there's the topic split option at the knight's disposal

Nah I don't care. I rarely stay on... say did I tell you about what happened to me today? You see, it snowed and my hubby had a dentist appointment and while we got a late start, and I thought we'd be late getting there. We actually turned up right on time, because the roads were really pretty good this morning.

So anyways, We were going to go to a movie, but there really isn't anything that I want to see. So I... Has anyone ever tried Diet Lipton Green Tea in a bottle? I think I am addicted to that stuff. It's what I'm drinking right now.

Do it like me and use the "Quote" button.

Like Nakor had already said - it depends on the topic. Usually I don't mind if a topic goes "astray", as I'm quite curious where it leads. Another reason why I like this forum and its users.
